This Weeks Performers:
Scott Burgess
MC and Creative Director
Jazzy-Blues Guitar and Vocals
Thrilled and elated to be a part of Indigo Scott is delighted to unleash evening after evening of power packed variety on the well deserving entertainment-thirsty audiences of DC. Reaching back to the ideas of Pre-TV-Vaudeville-Floorshow America, when a show was a show and it came with drinks and something to eat, he and Executive Producer Jonathan G. Willen have embarked on a quest to provide the audience with all they will need except the babysitter. Bob Mondello of the City Paper called Burgess “A one man musical marvel”. Joe Banno says, “That Burgess is crazy!”
Kevin Pace & Co.
Jazz trio
A winner of the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award bassist Kevin Pace brings a trio of young Jazz musicians ready for the world and wanting to be heard. Playing straight ahead Jazz with a modern flair Kevin P & Co will groove you up VoixDeVille style in the Indigo Room.
Mark Phillips
Magician
Mark Phillips comes from a military family which instilled in him a passion for discipline, order and psychological warfare on his younger sisters. Class clown and middle child, Mark’s first trick was the vanishing cigarette. Fortunately for him, in 1960’s Kentucky a six-year-old with cigarettes was not an unusual site. Today, Mark represents corporations large and small at trade shows around the world. His entertaining “live commercials” help his clients attract attention, deliver a concrete marketing message and generate sales leads by the hundreds. Mark has amazed audiences throughout North America, Europe, Asia, Australia and the Middle East. Locally, he has appeared at The National Theatre, The Kennedy Center, and in the Capitol Fringe Festival where the Washington Post remarked, “Mark Phillips has skill to burn.” He speaks German and an avidly plays the Vienna Horn, a musical instrument so obscure he finds a way to include it in every bio. Finally, he is a producer and performer at the Comedy & Mystery Society in Gaithersburg, MD.
Shaking the Blues Away
Hot cabaret tunes of the 1920s and 1930s, featuring Doug Bowles, Cindy Hutchins, and Alex Hassan
Doug Bowles, leader of the SingCo Rhythm Orchestra, a classic hot jazz and swing band, is joined by Cindy Hutchins, one of the DC area’s finest interpreters of the American Songbook, and Alex Hassan, internationally known recording artist of the piano styles made popular between the world wars. If the economy has you feeling blue, this is your chance to be uplifted by some of the most joyous and technically amazing music ever created – and the price is right!
